The Power of a Word

I admire words. I pay attention to words. Words said. Words not said. Words written. Words not written. Those that know me know I am not a “Wordsmith”. I do not finely hone sentences to a sharp and penetrating point. I often wander with my words, both spoken and written. But I admire a good, concise, well crafted, well placed word or two or three when I read or hear them.

Words are powerful….I think that’s why I love to do what I do with “ReJoyed”. When dozens upon hundreds of them are put together in a song or a book they are meaningful. But when one word or phrase is pulled from the meaningful it is powerful. A powerful reminder. When that one word comes from “The Word” there is infinite power and meaning behind it

Never forget this word!
Never forget this word!

I sometimes ask people to give me a word. What is one word that I be praying for you? One word. The answers come back…. after some thought. One word answers that are complete sentences none the less. Hope. Peace. Joy. Patience. Perseverance. Wisdom. Love. Behind each word is a story, sometimes an epic novel…but often the focus, the need, the prayer is one word.

In the few months that I have been pounding words into metal I have had the honor of hearing many stories about the power of a word.. Some come from people I know, some I haven’t met yet. They will tell me why this word or short little phrase is so particularly powerful to them. What a blessing! Keep sharing your stories with me… I promise I won’t publish them unless you give me permission to do so… but I love hearing them!

Joy is the word I asked some friends to pray for me a few years ago....ReJoyed began as a result of my Joy being Restored! :-)

So, what’s your word? It doesn’t have to be stamped into metal. Write it down. Study it out. Open “The Word” and look for your word. What does God have to say about Hope, Peace, Joy, Patience, Perseverance, Wisdom or Love? Ask a friend to pray that word for you. I think you will be amazed by the power of a word in The Word.
