I hope this makes you smile… it makes me smile.
I’ve been thinking about making this little tag for quite some time and I finally did it. I have made several I
Oh, it’s not the taste… it’s not the taste at all. It’s the experience. It’s the sound of the coffee “dripping” out of the spout. It’s the styrofoam cups… 8 ounces in the more fiscally conservative congregations… a little larger in the more progressive churches. It’s balancing a cup, a bible, a notebook and a purse while walking through a crowd. It’s listening to the buzz of the crowd as they engage in engaging yet free flowing conversations. It’s the hugs, the love, the smiles… the fellowship of kindred hearts. Not perfect.. the coffee or the people… but I l love them both.
It’s the same cup of goodness all over the country. I’ve enjoyed Church Coffee in a country church basement in Wisconsin. I small town big church in Idaho. I “cut my teeth” on Church Coffee in Minnesota. First the smell of it as a child…loved it…later the taste as we gathered in the “Fellowship Hall”. In Florida I even enjoy Church Coffee in the middle of the summer. It’s always good.
Could we have church without it? Yes we could… but it wouldn’t be the same. But maybe it’s not Church Coffee I enjoy as much as the kindred hearts that gather… not for the perfect coffee, or the perfect sermon, or the perfect music or the perfect anything….just coming together for Church… and coffee:-).
Hebrews 10:25
.”…not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
I had myself a good cup of church coffee yesterday… I hope you did too!
